Crafting our perfect ube crinkle cookie has been a journey of careful tweaking, always staying true to the authentic flavors of the Philippines. At the heart of these cookies is our homemade ube halaya jam, a beloved Filipino dessert made primarily from purple yams.
Creating this jam is a labor of love, demanding patience and attention to achieve that ideal, smooth consistency. After being slowly cooked to perfection, our ube halaya chills overnight before it meets the rest of the cookie ingredients. Similarly, once the dough is mixed, it needs to rest again, usually overnight.
This means each batch of our ube crinkle cookies is a nearly 48-hour process of care and dedication before they even enter the oven. We then hand-roll and bake them in small batches, ensuring the quality and consistency you and your loved ones deserve.
